How to spend your Saturday in and around the Brentwood area
Whether you're visiting from out of town or a local resident, here’s how to spend a Saturday around the central corridor of St. Louis County.
9 a.m.
Start your morning off right with an energizing gym session at The Heights, a 73,000-square-foot community center. You will find a fully functioning gym, as well as an extensive schedule of group classes. If you’re a fan of the group class option, you can sign up for yoga, circuit training, Zumba or spinning, just to name a few.
10:30 a.m.
After your workout, head over to Winslow’s Home or Half & Half, two local favorites, and enjoy a big, hearty brunch. After your meal, grab a coffee to-go and get ready to head to your next stop.
12 p.m.
Venture over to the Delmar Loop, about 10 minutes from Brentwood, for some strolling and shopping on the main stretch. This area is full of interesting shops, music venues and restaurants. While you’re in the neighborhood, meander across the street to the iconic Blueberry Hill for a daytime drink.
2 p.m.
Next, take a trip to visit the furry, flying and fishy creatures of the Saint Louis Zoo. One of the city’s many free attractions, the Zoo has been recognized as one of the best in the nation. Take a ride on the Zooline Railroad or enjoy a guided tour of many animal exhibits in the park. With attractions like Big Cat Country, Penguin & Puffin Coast or the Interactive Stingray Pool, the Zoo will not disappoint.
4 p.m.
If you still feel like enjoying the outdoors before dinner, continue your stroll through Forest Park after visiting the Zoo. One of the largest urban parks in the United States, it has scenic walking and biking trails, the Jewel Box—a beautiful greenhouse filled with floral displays—and the World’s Fair Pavilion.
6 p.m.
For dinner, head over to Texas de Brazil, the first St. Louis location of the churrascaria style restaurant. As is typical at churrascarias, Texas de Brazil features all-you-can-eat grilled meats, as well as an expansive selection of salad items and side dishes. Waiters bring knives and skewers table-side to carve a selection of 16 different proteins. Dinner, which includes endless cuts of meat and access to a salad buffet–type station, is offered for a flat rate of $43 (children ages 6 to 12 get a 50 percent discount; $5 for ages 3 to 5; and free for ages 2 and under). If you were snacking at the Zoo or during your walk around Forest Park and aren’t in the mood for the full rodizio experience, stop by for appetizers and happy hour drinks on their patio.
