Following a routine of protecting your skin is key to keeping your skin looking radiant and healthy. Dr. Stacey Tull of St. Charles County Dermatologic Surgery shares some simple skincare tips to get started:
1. Be consistent with your skincare. Sticking to a consistent regimen, such as washing your face twice daily and applying a moisturizer with SPF 20+ every morning (even in the winter), will maintain the long-term health of your skin, keeping your skin looking youthful.
2. Regularly wear sunscreen. Wearing sunscreen is one of the top ways to protect your skin. Wear it every day on any skin exposed to sun, and apply moisturizer. Don’t forget to reapply your sunscreen every two hours, including touch-ups throughout the day.
3. Know when to visit your doctor. Keep your skin healthy by consistently checking for irregularities, including lesions, discoloring, bumps and inflammation. If you do notice any irregularities, then schedule a consultation with your primary care provider or a general dermatologist as soon as possible.
4. Consider cosmetic procedures. Interested in more ways to create the look you love? Noninvasive cosmetic procedures can help treat a variety of conditions. For instance, gentle light procedures and a range of chemical peels can help reverse years of sun damage and discoloration. Remove unwanted hair, spider veins, wrinkles, and acne scars with state-of-the-art lasers. Gently freeze away stubborn fat bulges with CoolSculpting, a noninvasive procedure that removes fat from nine areas of the body. There are also treatments that you can do anytime to help your skin look its best, such as microdermabrasion treatment DiamondGlow™, or aesthetic injectables, such as BOTOX and Juverderm to soften fine lines and volumize the face.
