As St. Louisans, we love our food—toasted ravioli, crab rangoon, gooey butter cake, pizza with provel cheese. Our affinity for these delicacies has made St. Louis a truly “well-rounded” city, so much so that several national publications have ranked St. Louis as one of the “unhealthiest” cities in the nation. In an effort to combat the problem of obesity and promote better health throughout the community, Charter Communications, St. Louis YMCA and the Hautley Cheese Company, along with Mayor Francis Slay and Cardinals Hall-of-Famer Ozzie Smith, have launched the inaugural “Get Hooked on Health St. Louis” Expo. The free program, which will feature a number of presentations on topics including fitness, healthy cooking and an array of wellness products will run January 8-9 at America’s Center. Highlights from the expo will include: “Trainer to the Stars” Gunnar Peterson, Chicken Soup for the Soul’s Mark Victor Hansen, Extreme Dodgeball, the Golf Channel golf simulator and Outdoor Life Network’s Climbing Wall. America’s Center is located at 701 Convention Center Plaza. Admission is free and the exhibition runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
