Nothing lifts your spirits and takes the chill from your bones on a gray January day like a steaming bowl of soup. Soups can be as simple as chicken noodle or as rich as lobster bisque. All that matters is that they warm you up. Soup also has the added benefit of being filling, usually with less calories than other meals. That’s a bonus this time of year, when so many are trying to lose weight (though don’t expect to be cutting calories with cream of anything). Some of these restaurants keep the same soups on the menu, while others feature a rotation. Butternut squash, navy bean, matzoh ball, Wisconsin cheese—whatever kind of soup, whichever restaurant, it will hit the spot.
