Mayor Francis Slay: Francis had a reason to be cranky when the city got the short end of the stick on stimulus funds. How about setting an example by nixing that pesky city-earnings tax and spreading the love?
Mayor’s Chief of Staff Jeff Rainford: Speaking of Room 200, more than a few locals were incensed when Rainford repeated an urban planner’s opinion that north St. Louis is “far worse” than New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Maybe Rainford could pick up a hammer and nails, and head south—or north—to see for himself.
County Executive Charlie Dooley: A smoking-ban debate was reason enough for many county residents to get fired up. The next thing to ban: that wee divide between the city and county.
Gov. Jay Nixon: When the public found out that officials delayed revealing high levels of E. coli at the Lake of the Ozarks, it didn’t reflect well on the Department of Natural Resources or Nixon’s administration. Perhaps increased transparency from the get-go could help things go more swimmingly next time.
Sen. Claire McCaskill: Vocal Tea Party protesters stirred up the healthcare debate more than McCaskill might have liked, though she’s taken extra steps to hear from the public. A future remedy? Invite the outspoken group over for three cups of tea.
