It’s fitting that Tim Leong wears a pair of glasses reminiscent of Clark Kent. By day, he works as the mild-mannered design director at Fortune. (Before that, the Kirkwood High School grad served at Men’s Health, Complex, and Wired.) But in his spare time, Leong is a comic-book guru. He was the founder and editor of Comic Foundry, a mag devoted to covering an array of comic genres. This summer, he released his first book, Super Graphic: A Visual Guide to the Comic Book Universe. It’s a striking 196-pager from Chronicle Books chock-full of entertaining infographics, such as a bar chart highlighting superheroes’ love of primary colors and a Venn diagram examining their affinity for wearing underwear outside their pants.
