A visit to The Dubliner begs the question: Is it a pub, a restaurant or a place where light and dark meet perfectly, rugby games play out on flat screens and corned beef and roast chicken do a little jig while Irish music circles the room like a delicious fog? The answer is yes. This is a place that tickles the palate with authentic Irish fare (e.g., boxty and colcannon, not potato skins), entertains the ears and amuses the eyes. And instead of the smoke-filled no-frills pub it could be, The Dubliner pulls from its Washington Avenue charm, boasting high ceilings, large windows and tons of space. The first level has plenty of flat-screen TVs and seating for more than 200 with its banquettes, large bar and private dining room, and the room above has dart-boards, a pool table, more TVs, another bar and a stage that juts out into the crowd. Now, it seems, St. Louisans are the lucky ones.
