Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Mon–Sat
Faites attention! The local bistro has just become more authentic. Throughout Europe, bistros provide an array of sustenance throughout the day, from espresso and croissants at first light to a late-night flaky goat-cheese tart. And so it is at Mosaic Bistro Market, Ellen Schmitz’s rejoinder to her brothers’ restaurants, BARcelona and Mosaic. A convivial 10-seat bar in the shotgun space is the perfect destination for both a traditional salad Lyonnaise and an unusual croque, with a Gruyère béchamel sauce for dipping…now that’s what we call a French dip. You may choose to take home some Illy coffee, or some of Schmitz’s homemade jam (it is a market, you know) to try to duplicate your experience, but there’s something alluring about a bistro: the camaraderie, the staff, the surroundings…or is it simply the intoxication of a butter-poached Maine lobster tail with Parisian carrots, melted leeks, and sherry elixir?
