Low Power
Your article, “Power ’08: The 52 St. Louisans Shaping Your City” (November 2008), was very interesting. However, I didn’t appreciate your obvious bias against conservatives. Advising your readers that John Danforth will continue to counter the evangelical muscle within the Republican party as well as calling Gov. Blunt the one-term boy king was beyond the pale—not to mention shoddy journalism. Whatever views St. Louisans hold, they should be able to come to them honestly and without your petulant assertions.

Regarding the power list: Sherman George (No. 49): Rightfully fired for not doing his job paid by taxpayers? Susan Talve (No. 41): A minor figure in a minority religious group? What about Peter Raven of the world-class MoBot? What about the president of the
St. Louis Board of Education? What about Bishop Hermann, the head of the major religious organization in the area?
You folks need to do a lot better.

Road Food
With the October issue of St. Louis Magazine (“The 35 Best Restaurants in St. Louis”) as our guide, my wife and I enjoyed a culinary hat trick this past weekend with breakfast/brunch at Kopperman’s and Rooster and dinner at the Juniper Grill. The flash-fried scallops and calamari appetizer at Juniper Grill is a minor masterpiece. Hats off to the restaurant and dining writers and editors at
St. Louis Magazine.
