Two restaurants, two themes, one slyly packaged concept: Mira (for the adult and dapper) and Roxane (for the young and casual) share a wall and owners, but each offers a distinct dining experience.
With Roxane, owners Carolyn Downs of Cyrano's and Mike Johnson of Boogaloo bring the European dining concept of small plates in a small loungelike setting to downtown Clayton, offering fondues, appetizers including what may be one of the best spinach-artichoke dips in the city—and desserts familiar to fans of Cyrano's.
The menu at the swankier Mira goes global, with dishes ranging from cedarplank salmon to Muscovy duck breast. The combined environment is intimate but nowhere more so than in the space some have dubbed the "Boom-Boom Room"—a hideaway at Roxane sized for 10 and accessible only by ladder. But don't let the limited seating scare you--there's plenty of room on the patio, and you can get away with ordering from either menu, no matter which side of the wall you're on.
