Klutch Boutique
1126 Town & Country Crossing, 636-220-6110, klutchstyle.com.
From its worn mahogany floors to its Victorian wallpaper, Klutch appears to have been around far longer than four months. Crushed-velvet curtains double as dressing-room doors, and a wooden armoire displays clothes and accessories. Such old-world elegance is juxtaposed with pieces by contemporary designers like Alice + Olivia and MM Couture, as well as the free-spirited VaVa by Joy Han line and an extensive collection of celeb-favorite PRVCY (pronounced “privacy”) Premium denim.
Since earning a fashion-merchandising degree from Missouri State University, Elizabeth Irwin had long hoped to open her own shop. Two years ago, she and co-owner Anna Strope began laying the groundwork for Klutch. Their mission: to create a fun yet edgy place where mothers and daughters can shop together. Offering items from $30 to $400, they’ve accomplished just that.
Laurie Solet
1176 Town & Country Crossing, 636-527-4139, lauriesolet.com.
While its pristine gray-and-white interior might be similar to its flagship store, St. Louis’ second Laurie Solet boutique doesn’t skimp on space. At twice the size, the modern boutique leaves room for oodles of glittering jewelry from designers such as Candace Ang and CC Skye, in-demand accessories like Melie Bianco handbags, and of course, sexy footwear. Two of the shop’s bestsellers are light-brown Boutique 9 Jolisa Western ankle boots ($198) and black Matiko motorcycle boots ($249).
After her Clayton boutique opened in 2003, owner Laurie Solet received requests for a location that was farther west. With little crossover in designers between the two locations, each store offers a unique shopping experience. But like the original location, the new boutique carries Solet’s reasonably priced, private-label designs ($200 or less), which include edgy tops and dresses.
Susan Lynn’s
1122 Town & Country Crossing, 636-530-7337, susanlynns.com.
For more than six years, Susan Lynn’s found success in Chesterfield Valley. Then, with last year’s move to ToCo, the charming shop shifted just far enough east to expand its customer base while keeping its loyal clientele. A brown awning with sky-blue polka dots now welcomes guests to a place that seems more like an oh-so-stylish friend’s home than a chic boutique. The racks of cheery Lilly Pulitzer, sleek Trina Turk, and flirty Ella Moss pieces are tailored to working women and fashion-forward moms.
“My clothing and accessories have a very feminine, classic look while still following trends,” says owner Susan Lynn, who comes from a family of entrepreneurs. Along with Lilly Pulitzer napkins ($5) and coasters ($15), Lynn also carries girly gifts like the Shemergency Survival Kit ($22) by Ms. & Mrs., filled with fashion-emergency solutions, and Twist & Pout key-chain lip balm ($10).
