The gents at The Bluebird spent their winter vacation sawing, painting, installing new lighting, and generally prepping for their February 5 reemergence as The Firebird. Though the color scheme’s gone from blue to red, the room is still booking impressive national acts while staying generous to regional bands. The Foundry Field Recordings (above) sort of count as both—though they’re part of Columbia’s Emergency Umbrella collective, FFR has received nods from SPIN and made their third appearance at SXSW in March. This month’s show at The Firebird is the first gig in a month-long tour for Hierarchy [Procession], set for release later this spring.
