| Description: | Courtney Hulcer’s great-grandfather is in the National Soccer Hall of Fame; her father, Saint Louis University star Larry Hulcer, is in the Billiken Hall of Fame. The younger Hulcer came out kicking. The most decorated player in the 11-year history of women’s soccer at SLU, she is a two-time All-American and was named the Atlantic 10 Conference’s women’s soccer Student-Athlete of the Year (she graduated with a 3.95 grade point average). With amazing field vision and pinpoint placement, Courtney set records for assists; with incredible speed and a kick like a cannon, she scored consistently; and as sweeper, she stayed completely calm and focused in what’s usually a frantic last-line-of-defense position. (She’ll need that calm next fall, when she begins teaching fifth grade in the Parkway district.) |
