| Description: | Piwacket Theatre for Children led a nomadic existence for 15 years, spreading itself over four locations in two states. Last fall, founders Edie Avioli, Charlotte Dougherty and Scott Sears found a permanent home in Maplewood, rehabbing what had been a grocery store into a great little cabaret theater. Now, on Saturday mornings, you can supplant your kids’ cartoon-and-cereal regimen with a trip to the Black Cat Theatre to see professional, original productions of wryly adapted fairy tales that, like sneaky Sesame Street, use music, humor and narrative to teach kids about kindness, literacy, tolerance and, of course, Big Bird’s personal favorite, cooperation. |
