| Description: | Though Bowood Farms’ huge stock of native plants, grown in nearby Clarksville, earns gold stars for green behavior, we don’t love the nursery just for that. Bowood’s greenhouse is the opposite of the cold industrially designed nurseries attached to big-box hardware stores, and though there are many other warm, charming nurseries in town, it’s always possible to find at least one droopy flat of something that’s been over- or underwatered. Never, ever have we seen an unhealthy-looking plant at Bowood Farms, as hyperbolic as that sounds. We’d guess that the great staff, who are able to answer questions about any plant on the lot, must be watering, pruning and watching over the plants as if they were their own. |
