With drastic weather changes being a constant in St. Louis, it’s easy to see why the temperature takes a toll on our health. Extreme temperature changes in a short period of time can sometimes wreck havoc on our bodies, causing it to be in a constant state of shock and leaving little time to recover or acclimate. As we approach the winter months, the theme of cold versus warm seems to be a continuing thread. 1. Get sunlight whenever possible. The decrease in sunlight during winter months can cause some individuals to become depressed. Stay mindful of your mood. 2. Stock up on warm winter accessories. Part of dealing with the emotional effects of winter is being prepared. 3. Drink plenty of fluids. Stock up on your favorite drinks and consume plenty of water. 7. Be mindful of what you eat. Winter can be a month of overconsumption of comfort foods, so remember moderation when seeking out your mood soothing foods.
