St. Pius X Women's Volleyball win Class 2 State Championship. First for St. Pius and first for Jefferson County. Many upsets and surprises on their journey, including defeating several undefeated teams. One of the most exciting on the road to the state championship was the huge win over undefeated Scott City. St. Pius was the underdog who came out on top!
Lindbergh High School's theater program is first class...For example, if you attended the recent musical, Little Shop of Horrors, you would likely agree it was as fine a performance as I've seen at the Fox or the Muny. The set was fantastic and student built. The acting and vocal performances were sensational! The plays and musicals have been so successful that Lindbergh recently added a matinee performance on Sunday! Bravo, Lindbergh High!
I would have loved to see community service projects by public high schools listed as options. Pattonville High School students complete 50 hours of community service as a graduation requirement, but that was not on students' minds when the Good Friday tornado struck their community last April. Students reached out to the Pattonville communities of Bridgeton and Maryland Heights after last year's Good Friday tornadoes destroyed or severely damaged hundreds of homes and businesses in the district. Students blanketed the neighborhoods to clean up debris and help with recovery efforts. They collected and distributed toiletries, food, clothing and other necessities for storm victims. They also raised funds for them as well to help in recovery efforts. Two students even designed "Rebuilding the Cove"(because their mascot is the Pirate) T-shirts they sold to raise funds for storm victims. Their heartfelt efforts showed the community how much they truly cared.
