Beauty Trend Alert: Ombre Hair

From the red carpet to the blogosphere, ombre hair is taking over as one of the year’s must-have hair trends. More than just a good excuse to grow out your roots, ombre is a fun way to spice up your hair color without sticking to the usual highlight or lowlight regimen.

For the natural blonds out there, go for a natural ombre look with darkened chestnut roots and leave your natural blond tips—it’s much less upkeep than going completely dark brown and then dying the tips a lighter shade. Fair warning, you may feel the need to wash your hair more often due to your new darker roots, so be sure not to go too heavy on the conditioner.

And for all you brunettes out there, have fun! Play around with different shades of blonde that work best with your skin tone and natural hair color. There’s no wrong or right way to rock the trend, but here are some great ombre options for women off all hair types:

1. Whitney Port

2. Rachel Bilson

3. Drew Barrymore
