Honey’s Child Boutique Moves to Washington Avenue

Honey’s Child Boutique Moves to Washington Avenue

Owner Letitia Mcpherson-Young

Honey’s Child Boutique (1927 Washington Avenue, 314-498-9397) will open soon in a new, “edgier” location on Washington Avenue, according to owner Letitia Mcpherson-Young. The two-year-old boutique, originally located on Manchester Road, will open in Downtown St. Louis on August 31.

“I started out in Kirkwood and had great success, but I wanted to really be down in the fashion hub in St. Louis,” Mcpherson-Young says. “Washington Avenue has a lot of action, a lot of fashion going on. So when my lease was up, I took advantage and moved.”

Mcpherson-Young says Honey’s Child Boutique is St. Louis’ first and only full-figure boutique for women. The shop carries Qristyl Frazier Designs, Monif C. Plus Sizes, Rue 114, and a new plus-size line from Haus by Sierra Moses, among others. Items come in size 12 and up.

Mcpherson-Young opened the boutique after seeing the lack of fashionable clothes available to full-figure women in the Midwest. “You can be fashionable, you can be gorgeous, you can wear true fashion at any size. I’m hoping to promote that in other markets as well,” she explains.

About the boutique’s name, she says it comes from her mother’s nickname.

“Everyone says I look like her, so I call myself Honey’s child. She comes into the store and works on weekends. She’s very much a part of the business and the whole concept,” Mcpherson-Young says.

Honey’s Child Boutique will hold a grand re-opening party from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 31. The red-carpet event will include full-figure models showing off pre-fall fashions, as well as live music, giveaways, and special discounts. Bring in the flyer from the boutique’s Facebook page to receive a 15 percent discount on your purchase.
