Siteman Cancer Center-South County officially opens today. The new location at 5225 Midamerica Plaza offers the same services as the center’s main Washington University location, including more than 240 clinical trial treatments.
The $27.5 million, 37,000 square-foot treatment facility offers comfort through world-class cancer care. Patients at the new center have the opportunity to receive services from radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, and surgeons. This variance of treatments allows patients to receive a treatment plan after their first visit.
Top radiation care is available through the linear accelerator provided by Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Radiation patients will also have access to an infusion center operated by Washington University.
Timothy Eberlein, director of the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine, says the center’s accessible treatment options ensure thorough patient care.
“Treatment at a top 10 U.S. cancer center just got easier for hundreds of thousands of area residents,” Eberlein says. “Along with convenience, patients at our South County location will benefit from the world-class cancer care and outstanding research of our Washington University physicians.”
Architects at BSA LifeStructures followed guidelines set by Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in order to achieve a design that communicated trust, respect and a calming environment to patients. There are future plans in the new center for a healing garden to help provide patients with an encouraging and peaceful healing environment.
Close parking and green space are also available at the site for patients and their families.
The two other satellite locations for Siteman Cancer Center are at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital in Creve Coeur and at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital in St. Charles County.
