On Christmas Day in 2009, Cpl. Dennis Engelhard of the Missouri State Highway Patrol was struck by a car and killed while investigating an accident on Interstate 44. His gay partner, Kelly Glossip, sued to receive the survivor benefits usually given to a fallen trooper's spouse.

SLM's Ray Hartmann wrote about the case here. Now, it has made its way to the Missouri Supreme Court. On Wednesday, you can listen to the oral arguments online.
