From the moment that guests arrived through the grandeur wooden doors of The Cheshire, an air of excitement filled the room. After being led down the red carpet, decorated with soft lighting and the revamped issue of St. Louis At Home, a wooden staircase led guests into a world of cuisine almost too delicious to describe.
With the new editorial focus of St. Louis At Home geared toward an individual theme for each issue, the first topic consisted of all things culinary, which made the Cheshire the perfect location to launch the new magazine. Guests were greeted at the top of the staircase with glasses of exquisite wine provided by A. Bommarito Wines and Missouri Beverage Company. Beer was provided by Harp, Guinness, and Smithwick's, and Basso mixologist Matt McMullin served specialty cocktails including a S'moretini featuring Smirnoff Fluffed Marshmallow Vodka, a Sazerac featuring Bulleit Rye Whiskey, anda Sugarbush Sling featuring Crown Royal Maple.
Editor-in-Chief Christy Marshall and Publisher Leslie Tunney welcomed guests as partygoers thumbed through the new Culinary Issue of St. Louis At Home, and toured visual displays of the magazine including entertaining ideas for your very own dinner party and must-have cooking utensils, as selected by local chefs.
Tables overflowing with breads, meats, and cheeses were located in the center of the room, surrounded by food stations that served mouthwatering menu items available at Basso, The Restaurant at the Cheshire, and The Market. Chef Patrick Connolly of Basso treated guests to a lively cooking demonstration featuring his pizzas. Savory dishes such as pan-seared pork belly with grits and sauteed mushrooms, as well as juicy pork tenderloin and freshly-baked pizzas, are only a few of the items guests had a chance to taste. And for those with a sweet tooth, a dessert table full of tiny tidbits of tiramisu, cheesecake, cookies and exquisite truffles lined the wall. Many guests got an exclsuive first look at The Market which opens this week.
