Ollie Hinkle was born on November 28, 2011 with a hole in his heart, which lead to the diagnosis of a congenital heart defect (CHD). Ollie spent his short life in and out of the hospital, fighting for his life, with his loving family by his side. Ollie is not the only child that has had a CHD and will not be the last. According to The Children's Heart Foundation, congenital heart defects are America's and every country's #1 birth defect. Nearly one of every 100 babies are born with CHDs and are the #1 cause of birth defect related deaths. Each year, approximately 40,000 babies are born in the United States with a CHD, and thousands of them will not reach their first birthday and thousands more die before they reach adulthood. For this reason, The Children's Heart Foundation-MO Chapter is hosting a food and wine festival to honor the life of Ollie and raise awareness and funds for congenital heart disease research.
The Ollie Hinkle I Love Food & Wine Festival will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at The Cheshire St. Louis. This culinary -and-beverage extravaganza will feature tastings by St. Louis’s most renowned chefs, wine distributors, and local brewers. The evening includes delicious samplings from Annie Gunn's, The Cheshire, Niche, Sidney Street Cafe, Basso, Five, Cielo, Robust Wine Bar, Mai Lee, Oceano Bistro, Entre, Salume Beddu, Home Wine Kitchen, The Table, Fleming's, Pappy's Smokehouse, Harvest, The Block, Perennial Artisan Ales, Civil Life Brewing Company, Four Hands Brewing Company, and Urban Chestnut. Attendees will experience an afternoon of fun, food, drink, and philanthropy.
All proceeds will benefit The Children's Heart Foundation-MO Chapter to help fund research for CHDs. Congenital heart defects will only be beaten through the strength, commitment, and empowerment of families, friends, and supporters—so join us for an afternoon of culinary fun as we celebrate the life and memory of Ollie Hinkle. Tickets are $125. For tickets and more information, please visit iheartollie.com.
